This Privacy Policy explains how Kulkula (“the Service”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the website, progressive web experience, or mobile apps. By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Religious text (Arabic Quran, Turkish pronunciation, meal notes, Esma ul-Husna content) is informational content, not personal data, and is not an official religious ruling.

1. Who we are

Ophelika Studio publishes Kulkula and is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service, except where a third-party provider acts as an independent controller (for example Google sign-in, Apple/Google Play billing, or analytics providers for their own services).

2. Scope

This Policy applies to:

  • The website at kulkula.com
  • Mobile apps identified by package / bundle ID com.kulkula.app
  • Account, social, Defter, Premium, and related features
  • Product pages and this privacy page on ophelika.com

It does not cover third-party websites or stores that we do not control.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Account and profile

If you create an account (email/password and/or Google Sign-In), we may process:

  • Email address, Firebase user ID, authentication tokens
  • Display name, username, first/last name (if provided), bio
  • Profile photo URL (if you upload one)
  • Account creation time and public-profile preference

3.2 Reading progress and preferences

  • Ayahs marked as read, XP / reading rank data
  • Theme and reminder preferences (may be stored on device and/or in the cloud)
  • Local cache of progress on mobile (for example AsyncStorage) with optional cloud sync

3.3 Social and user-generated content

  • Comments / reflections under ayahs
  • Likes, follows (people and surahs), blocks and reports
  • Defter books and chapters you publish, including subscriber-gated access lists where used
  • Moderation actions related to safety

3.4 Purchases and Premium (when enabled)

If you subscribe to Premium via Apple App Store or Google Play:

  • Purchase / subscription status and product identifiers are validated through the store and our purchase partner (RevenueCat)
  • We do not receive your full payment card number
  • We may receive limited purchase metadata (product ID, entitlement status, approximate region) to unlock Kapılar and restore purchases

3.5 Technical and analytics data

  • Session and security logs needed to run the Service
  • IP address and device / browser information to a reasonable extent for security and debugging
  • On the website, Google Analytics may be used to understand aggregate traffic
  • Crash or diagnostic data may be processed when enabled by our backend tooling

3.6 Information we do not intentionally collect

  • Precise GPS location for marketing
  • Advertising ID for ads (the Service does not show ads)
  • Contacts or microphone recordings for advertising

Audio playback may use platform media capabilities; we do not use microphone access for advertising.

4. How we use information

  • Provide accounts, reading progress, social features, Defter, and Premium
  • Keep the community safe (moderation, spam and abuse prevention)
  • Sync progress and entitlements across web and mobile
  • Improve reliability, security, and product quality
  • Comply with legal obligations

5. Legal bases (where applicable)

Depending on your region, we rely on contract performance (providing the Service), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, product improvement, without overriding your rights), consent (where required, for example certain analytics or optional communications), and legal obligations.

For users in Türkiye, processing is also described under KVKK (Law No. 6698). You may exercise rights of access, correction, deletion, and related requests by emailing us.

6. Sharing and infrastructure

We use service providers to operate Kulkula, including:

  • Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Storage, Cloud Functions)
  • Google Sign-In (optional authentication)
  • RevenueCat and Apple / Google (purchases, when enabled)
  • Google Analytics on the website (aggregate usage)

These providers process data under their terms and security controls, which may involve processing in or outside your country as needed to deliver the Service. We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal data with advertisers for ads.

7. Retention

We keep account and content data while your account is active and as needed for the Service, safety, and legal requirements. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us. Some backup or legal records may remain for a limited period where required.

8. Children

Kulkula is intended for a general audience with a recommended minimum age of 13+. If you are under 18, use the Service with a parent or guardian’s guidance. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data so we can delete it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures appropriate to our Service (authentication, access controls, encrypted transport). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Your choices

  • Update or delete profile content where the product allows
  • Sign out; request account deletion via email
  • Disable optional notifications in system settings
  • Manage cookies / analytics via your browser settings on the web
  • Restore or manage subscriptions through Apple or Google

11. International users

If you access Kulkula from outside the country where our infrastructure is hosted, your information may be transferred to and processed in other countries that may have different data-protection laws.

12. Changes

We may update this Policy. The “Effective date” and version above will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
